Context

Equinox aims to improve the well-being of its beneficiaries through music, which is here a means rather than an end. The method of work is carried out with a view on excellence, under the aegis of the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth.

Equinox’s training aims to strengthen various skills through music: listening, patience, concentration, critical thinking, respect for others and for oneself, etc. The notion of belonging to the group enables the participants in each choir to feel like a full-fledged member of a valued and recognised organisation, and thus allows to gain self-confidence.

Beneficiaries

18 young adults with autism, attending the special school “Les Fantastiques”, participated in the Equinox Choir activity.

Objective

Equinox se consacre à la création, au développement et à la promotion de chorales composées de voix n’ayant a priori pas (ou plus) accès à un encadrement musical de qualité. En septembre 2017, Equinox lance une cinquième chorale au sein d’une école spécialisée pour jeunes autistes : « Les Fantastiques ».

Trois groupes de 8 enfants profiteront, une heure par semaine, d’un atelier musical avec Victor Somma, flûtiste et chef de chœur.

Results

For two school years, 18 young adults benefited from the weekly choral.
The impact observed is the increased interactions between the young adults and thus more socialisation.
