EOLE

Helping young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder in their professional and social life

2020 till Today
Neder Over Heembeek, Belgium

Context

The acquisition of social codes is an issue for young adults with autism. This is a major obstacle to their entry into the world of work and, more generally, to their well-being in society.

EOLE offers a structure to help young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (without associated intellectual deficits) to find employment and social inclusion, after their years of schooling.

Beneficiaries

EOLE provides monthly support to approximately 20 young adults, aged between 18 and 30.

Results

Started in 2020, the aim of the project is to provide a caring environment for young adults with autism in order to support them in a smooth and adapted transition between their school years and the world of work.
Since its launch, 20 young people have regularly participated in the activities offered by EOLE:
– leisure activities promoting social integration: board games, movement, plastic arts, outdoor visits, etc.;
– Professional coaching and modules focused on social codes to facilitate employment;
– Information to inform (and/or his/her parents) about existing resources for housing assistance, available therapists, employment assistance, etc.

Testimonials

J. – participant of EOLE activities

The wonderful thing about EOLE is that everyone is accepted, loved, understood and appreciated as they are, with their faults, qualities, history, past, and experiences. Each participant can feel free to be authentic, to be himself without having to put on a mask

A. - participant of EOLE activities

EOLE gave me the opportunities to: spend time with my old school friends, meet new people to improve my socialization skills, participate in many activities, have a good time with everybody instead of staying in solitude. EOLE welcomes those who are interested in autism, friendship and socialisation.
