Access to education for children in Gaza

2025 till Today

Context

Since the start of the 2023 crisis, schools and universities throughout the Gaza Strip have been prime targets for the Israeli army. Today, 70 per cent of the educational infrastructure has been destroyed. UN experts are referring to this as ‘schoolicide’.
Thousands of pupils have been forced out of school.

The need to rebuild the education system is felt throughout the Gaza Strip, particularly in the worst-affected area: Gaza City and its surroundings.

Beneficiaries

Children aged 6 to 12 in the Gaza Strip.

Objective

The ‘tent school’ offers hope that pupils can resume their education despite the difficult conditions of war, and gives them prospects for the future and a sense of hope.

The primary objective is therefore to get the children back into education.

Results

During this first academic year (2025–2026), 850 children and young people were able to continue their education.
