Context
Founded in 1993 by Marguerite Barankitse, Maison Shalom has, ever since, continued to grow and expand its work.
Based in Rwanda since 2015, it has been steadfastly carrying out its mission there: ‘To promote human development by providing psychosocial, educational and economic support to those most in need, enabling them to become self-reliant and agents of positive change within their communities.’
Maison Shalom’s work is structured around three key areas: education, economic support and psychosocial support.
Beneficiaries
Maison Shalom International (NGO) receives structural support from the Foundation.
And, through it, all those who benefit from its work.
Thus, in 2023, 1,041 children and young people received educational support, 1,004 beneficiaries received socio-economic support and 1,143 people received psychosocial support.
Objective
The Foundation’s support aims to bolster Maison Shalom to ensure its stability and sustainability, and to enable it to develop its strategic action plan.
At the same time, the Foundation is participating in the project “Contributing to the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and vulnerable Rwandan young people in Rwanda”, carried out in partnership with ACTEC and funded by Belgian Development Cooperation.
Results
The FJFP’s support was primarily used to design and set up the Sainte-Anne School in Kigali.
It also enabled the finalisation of the 2024–2029 Strategic Plan.
