Lebanon: the indescribable…
The news reaching us from our Lebanese partners is catastrophic! It speaks of bombings, anguish, trauma, thousands of displaced families…
The children and young people supported by our partners in Mrouj – the Maronite Antonines’ Social Orientation School, Mtein – the Mtein Charitable Association, Tyre – Asmae, and Beirut – SB Overseas – find themselves plunged straight into a deeply oppressive and traumatic environment.
Faced with the worst, they also show the very best!
Take little Tia (aged 9), an orphan at the EOS in Mrouj, who, seeing many families arriving at the school seeking refuge, welcomes each one with these words: “Don’t be afraid! You’ll be warmly welcomed and looked after here. When I arrived, I was very scared, but I immediately felt at ease because they looked after me with such tenderness. Everything will be alright!” A heartfelt account from a child’s perspective…
The Foundation has set up an emergency fund to support its partners during these particularly difficult times.
And, of course, we all hope for a swift end to the violence!
