Verlichting van de armoede
Support for schooling, family economics and small infrastructure for very poor families
Contexte
In rural Vietnam, poor families struggle to have access to basic social services: health care, education, etc. The populations income of the two provinces affected by the programme is approximately half of the national average. The economy is almost exclusively agricultural and education is highly expensive.
Begunstigden
The “poorest” children (families living on less than 50 cents/day) living in rural areas along the Mekong river are the direct beneficiaries of the intervention and, beyond that, the whole of their community.
Doel
De façon générale, l’ensemble des projets soutenus par la Fondations JFP en appui à l’asbl Mékong + entend lutter contre l’extrême pauvreté dans les campagnes du Vietnam à travers une approche d’intervention globale / intégrée, incluant des actions en matière d’éducation, de santé, de logement et d’économie familiale, participative et déployée sur le long terme.
Tous les programmes ont été conçus avec les populations locales pour répondre aux besoins fondamentaux de la communauté. Les villageois sont porteurs des projets de leur entité. Il n’est pas rare de les entendre dire «c’est nous qui l’avons fait !». Portés par cette nouvelle responsabilité, ils protègent leurs acquis, et réitèrent ce que Mékong Plus a entrepris avec eux, avec ou sans l’association.
Résultats
Support was provided through various projects:
2007: basic education projects, micro-credit and small community infrastructure (roads and bridges on the Mekong Delta) in Hâu Giang (Vietnam);
2008 to 2012: community development programme for and with children in Binh Thuân with activities in the fields of family economy, agriculture, health and education.
